Herring Gull chick
This is a slightly older HG, probably over a week old. The mantle feathers are better grown but the coverts are not yet fully formed. It is however quite similar to the LBB and you can see why the two might get confused. The lighter coffee coloured edging is perhaps the best guide to it as a HG. The head is still 'striped' rather than spotted.
