Lesser Scaup

Lesser Scaup

Taken at Cosmeston
The Lesser Scaup is a North American bird that is very rare in the UK, only turning up very rarely when blown off course during migration. One a year is typical in the UK. This bird however has been returning to the Cardiff area each winter and spending most of the time in Cardiff Bay. As per last year it came over to Cosmeston - obviously for it's spring break. As a very rare bird this could be expected to be a once in a lifetime shot - but no, given it's almost resident this is the 2nd year I have been able to get shots of it.
