Waxwings (Bohemian)

Waxwings (Bohemian)

On 5th January, a flock of 60 Bohemian Waxwings were found on the berry trees near the KFC fast food on Newport Rd, Cardiff. A week later a group of up to 20 were seen outside the Council Offices in Barry 5 miles away. These shots were taken at the two locations. Very easy to photograph but unfortunately zero sun in which to take shots.
This was a once in 5-10 year incursion of the birds. Most years they do not come so far south, but 2017 seems special. Attracted to the berries on trees planted in these commercial premises.
